Florida Sheriff Warns New Residents: Don’t ‘Vote the Stupid Way You Did Up North’

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd on Monday offered some political advice to new residents of Florida.

The moment: Judd, speaking at the public signing of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ anti-riot legislation in Winter Haven, held up a series photos contrasting protests and riots.

  • “This is the Florida we know and love. We’re a special place, and there are millions and millions of people who like to come here. And quite frankly, we like to have them here,” the sheriff said while displaying images of Disney World.
  • “We only want to share one thing as you move in hundreds a day: Welcome to Florida, but don’t register to vote and vote the stupid way you did up north, or you’ll get what they got.”

“There’s a reason this place is fun,” he added. “There’s a reason we have a 49-year-low crime rate.”

Judd has previously used a similar photo routine to educate what he called “slow learners” in the press.

Florida man: While Judd has become something of a local celebrity, DeSantis’ own tough talk about crime and the media has made him a favorite to be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.
