The moment: Pressed by anchor Lester Holt about whether her duties as White House immigration czar will ever take her to see the border crisis, Harris deflected and, yet again, laughed inappropriately.
The reaction: The prime-time gaffe, while Harris was on a diplomatic visit to Guatemala, quickly went viral online and raised questions about her political future on both the left and right.
The future: Later Tuesday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reiterated that Harris’ focus is “the root causes” of immigration, but she acknowledged the veep “at some point she may go to the border.”
