Toilet Display Mocking Mail-In Voting Is a Felony, Democrat Official Says

A local Democratic official in Michigan has lodged a complaint with the police over a sign and toilet set up to mock mail-in voting.

A sh*tty situation: Barb Byrum, the Democratic clerk of Ingham County, publicly warned on Friday that the lawn display in Mason, Michigan, could mislead voters into dumping their votes.

The sign reads, “Place mail in ballots here!” with an arrow pointing to the toilet.

  • “It’s solicitation of absentee ballots into a container,” Byrum told the Lansing State Journal on Friday.
  • “Our election integrity is not a game. I expect everyone to act appropriately, and this is unacceptable.”
  • Byrum told The Associated Press on Sunday, “It is a felony to take illegal possession of an absentee ballot.”

The matter is under investigation, Mason police told The AP.

A scam? President Donald Trump and his supporters have repeatedly raised concerns about potential fraud and miscounted votes because of greatly expanded mail-in voting in 2020.

“Everybody in this room knows it’s a scam,” Trump said of mail-in voting during a press conference on Friday. “They are never going to be able to count them.”

  • According to a NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll released in May, roughly half of Americans would vote by mail if the option was available to them.

Michigan is a key battleground state.
