The National Football League caused a stir on Monday after unveiling a pro-LGBT campaign in which it declared: “Football is gay.”
The world’s biggest corporations are increasingly making the endorsement of “woke” causes a part of their marketing strategies – something which doesn’t sit well with critics who say their signaling to progressive causes hides an exploitative hidden agenda.
When it comes to the NFL in particular, conservatives have expressed distaste for what they see as the league’s forcing of liberal ideology down their throats.
In conjunction with the Trevor Project, an organization aimed at preventing suicide among LGBT youth, the NFL debuted a new video in which it expressed solidarity with the LGBT community.
The video is a direct response to Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib on Monday becoming the first active openly gay NFL player.
“Football is lesbian. Football is beautiful. Football is queer. Football is life. Football is exciting. Football is culture. Football is transgender. Football is queer. Football is heart. Football is power. Football is tough. Football is bisexual. Football is strong. Football is freedom. Football is American. Football is accepting. Football is everything. Football is for everyone,” the league declared in its 30-second spot.
