QUOTE OF THE DAY: We’ll Never Let Go of COVID

Q

Nikole Hannah-Jones, the creator of The New York Times’s 1619 Project, joined other members of the media elite Thursday in complaining that Americans are still shaking hands post-pandemic.

THE QUOTE

Hannah-Jones enthusiastically seconded a fellow woke journalist’s tweet lamenting that the pandemic hasn’t resulted in “outlawing handshakes forever,” and wondered, “Like, why were we ever pressing our sweaty nasty hands together in greeting? Just vile!”

Added Jeff Jarvis, a CUNY journalism school professor and progressive media critic, “Unfortunately, … it seems the handshake is back. We learn nothing.”

SAME ENERGY

Hannah-Jones and Jarvis — two prominent defenders of the liberal COVID-19 consensus — joined this week’s meltdown over a federal judge in Florida overturning the federal mask mandate for travel.

  • “I’ll be wearing my mask on Delta today,” Hannah-Jones declared on Twitter shortly after the ruling Tuesday.
  • Columnist Paul Krugman, her colleague at the Times, predicted widespread violence against the masked, tweeting, “Soon we’ll be seeing many incidents in which those who choose to protect themselves with KN95s etc face harassment, even violence. Because this was never about freedom.”
