On CBS’ “Late Show” Monday night, host Stephen Colbert asked Lemon to address reports that “you guys aren’t allowed to be liberal anymore.”
- Lemon rejected the premise of the question and claimed that his new boss, CEO Chris Licht “wants Republicans, sensible Republicans.”
- “He wants to hold people to account, but he wants people to come on and feel comfortable about coming on and talking on CNN and appearing on CNN,” Lemon explained.
- “And so, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re going liberal or conservative or whatever, it just means that we are doing what we do and that’s good journalism.”
