A body positivity activist and plus-size supermodel announced to the world that she is “in recovery” for anorexia.
The details: Tess Holliday, 35, issued a series of tweets over the weekend expressing frustration about comments on her appearance, claiming she had been diagnosed with anorexia.
- The model, who has been featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan UK, said, “I’m anorexic & in recovery. I’m not ashamed to say it out loud anymore.”
- The inventor of the “#effyourbeautystandards” hashtag received progressive plaudits for “helping so many people of size learn how to accept themselves.”
- But some conservatives expressed skepticism about the benefits of valorizing self-acceptance.
Tess Holliday, in addition to being a recently-divorced mother of two, is a Black Lives Matter supporter and an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump.
- “F*ck Trump F*ck the people who voted for him and f*ck the Republicans who didn’t vote for impeachment FOR A SECOND TIME,” she tweeted in January.
