Seattle Mayor Says Everything’s ‘Fine’ in Her City – Gets Asked About Bags of Human Remains Washing Up on Beach

Social media users responded to Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkham’s positive remarks about the state of her city by pointing to the fact that bags of human remains were recently found on a local beach.

A grim discovery: Authorities received a call Friday about a suspicious bag laying on  Alki Beach in West Seattle, according to the Seattle Police Department’s blotter.

  • Inside the bag, officers discovered human remains.
  • Detectives are investigating several bags containing human remains located near the beach.

A video posted to social media by local teens appears to show them discovering a suitcase filled with human remains.

Nobody panic, everything is peachy: Twitter commenters responded to a June 12 comment from Durkham, in which she rejected President Donald Trump’s accusations that anarchical protesters were rampaging through the city and told him not to “be so afraid of Democracy,” by bringing her attention to the ongoing investigation over the bags of human remains.

Protesters “liberated” the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” last month after Seattle police abandoned the East Precinct in an attempt to de-escalate street clashes with them amid anti-racism protests spurred by the death of George Floyd.

  • Since Durkham’s mid-June tweet, one man has been killed and another wounded within the CHAZ.
  • “Doesn’t seem fine,” said social media influencer Amanda Neeter in response to Durkham.
