A Colorado man said he was denied service at a local credit union for not wearing a mask, even though he lost his ears in the line of duty.

Wounded Warrior: The injuries Del Toro received while serving his country in Afghanistan make it difficult, if not impossible, for him to use a mask or the drive-through.

  • Eighty percent of the U.S. Air Force veteran’s body was burned when the Humvee he was in drove over a roadside bomb.
  • Del Toro told CBS4 that using the drive-through is hard since he lost his fingers in the explosion.
  • He’s unable to wear a mask because he also lost his ears and he has a medical condition that makes it hard to breathe.

The response: Del Toro was upset by ENT Credit Union staffers’ conduct.

  • “I felt, almost defeated. Because I can’t believe this is really happening. Do people not have common sense anymore?” he said.
  • ENT Credit Union apologized to Del Toro and said its employees showed a lack of judgment.

Lockdown hypocrisy? Officials, public health experts and members of the media have been noticeably inconsistent in their application of coronavirus standards, drawing the ire of conservative critics.

  • More than 1,200 healthcare professionals have signed an open letter supporting racial justice protests in the wake of George Floyd’s despite the health risks, saying: “White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19.”
