The president of Mexico blamed President Joe Biden for the surge in migrants coming to the U.S.-Mexico border.
The comments: Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador made the comments at a Tuesday press conference, saying “expectations were created that with the government of President Biden there would be a better treatment of migrants.”
- “And this has caused Central American migrants, and also from our country, wanting to cross the border thinking that it is easier to do so,” he added.
- The comments echo Obrador’s statements to the press in March, when he said migrants consider Biden “the migrant president.”
- “We need to work together to regulate the flow, because this business can’t be tackled from one day to the next,” he said.
The border crisis: The White House has been evasive regarding the ongoing border crisis brought on by the surge of migrants at the southern border.
- Biden’s critics have blamed his administration for reversing the tough enforcement policies of former President Donald Trump.
- “They are going to destroy our country if we don’t do something about it,” Trump himself said in a recent Fox News appearance regarding the massive influx.
