DEMOCRATS LOSE AN EMBARRASSING ONE: GOP challenger Michael Lawler’s upset win over Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair Sean Maloney in New York State’s 18th district gave Republicans something to smile about in the generally disappointing midterm elections. Maloney’s loss marked the first time since 1992 that the Democrat in charge of House election lost his own race.

WALKER AND WARNOCK HEAD TO RUN-OFF: The key Senate race between Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., and Trump-backed Republican Herschel Walker is headed to a Dec. 6 runoff after neither candidate won a majority of the votes. That means it could be another month until Americans know which party controls the U.S. Senate.
