Trump campaign adviser Harlan Z. Hill was banned from Fox News’ airwaves after insulting Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris in harsh terms.
The attack: During the vice presidential debate last Wednesday, Hill tweeted: “Kamala Harris comes off as such an insufferable lying bitch. Sorry, it’s just true.”
Amid backlash, Hill, a D.C.-based public relations consultant, was unapologetic, counterpunching his Twitter critics and doubling– and tripling-down on his remarks.
Canceled: Fox News told the Beast on Thursday that Hill, a frequent guest on the network, was no longer welcome.
- “We have no intention of booking him as a guest on any of our platforms,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
- Other cable news networks and companies downplayed or denied Hill’s avowed ties to them.
- The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
Who’s the monster?: Hill’s remarks about Harris, a California senator and a black woman, were an unusually vulgar expression of widespread sentiment on the right.
- President Donald Trump said in a Fox Business interview on Thursday that Harris was a “monster” during the debate with Vice President Mike Pence.
- Meanwhile, many liberals celebrated as feminist triumphs the same quips and smirks that irritated conservatives, and derided her critics, along with Pence, as motivated by sexism or racism.
Not sorry: Hill, for his part, remained uncowed even after the corporate denunciations.
“Kamala Harris was extraordinarily disrespectful to the vice president last night, lied to the American people repeatedly on The Biden/Harris platform, and was just generally unlikable and smug,” Hill texted the Daily Beast on Thursday. “I tweeted what I tweeted and I’d tweet it again.”
“I appreciate my relationship with Fox News over the last 5 year,” he told Mediate in a statement on Thursday. “They have been very good to me and I will always appreciate the chance they gave me to build a platform.”
