Donald Trump Jr. mocked Jeffrey Toobin, a journalist and fierce critic of President Donald Trump, after Toobin was fired by The New Yorker on Wednesday following an incident last month in which he exposed himself during a staff videoconference call.

The tweet: “I was fired today by @NewYorker after 27 years as a Staff Writer. I will always love the magazine, will miss my colleagues, and will look forward to reading their work,” Toobin, 60, tweeted on Wednesday.

In a statement from its “Chief People Officer,” Conde Nast, the media conglomerate that owns The New Yorker, announced its three-week “investigation regarding Jeffrey Toobin is complete, and as a result, he is no longer affiliated with our company.”

The reaction: Toobin – whose anti-Trump book, “True Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Investigation of Donald Trump,” was released earlier this year – quickly felt the full force of the internet’s mockery.

“I’m just here for the ratio,” Trump Jr. said in reply to Toobin’s tweet.

Conservative commentators, such as Ben Shapiro, deployed devastating puns and double entendres.

Even news outlets, like The Daily Caller, got their jabs in.

The incident: The New Yorker suspended Toobin in mid-October after being caught allegedly pleasuring himself on-camera during a staff Zoom call.

  • In a statement last month, Toobin said he’d made an “an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera.’’
  • “I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,’’ he said.

The same month, Toobin was placed on leave from CNN, where he works as a senior legal analyst.
