Director of National Intelligence Just Wrecked Media’s Excuse for Ignoring Hunter Biden Bombshell

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe on Monday flatly rejected claims that an explosive report about Hunter Biden’s dealings in Ukraine is “part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

The video: Ratcliffe appeared on Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” to refute the conspiracy theory put forth by Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, and other critics of President Donald Trump.

  • Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, had said on CNN on Friday that emails allegedly recovered from a laptop belonging to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s youngest son are part of a “smear” campaign “from the Kremlin.”

Swing and a miss: “Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign,” Ratcliffe told host Maria Bartiromo.

  • Schiff has no inside intel: “Let me be clear: The intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that. And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff, or any member of Congress,” Ratcliffe said.
  • Tables turned?: “It’s funny that some of the people who complain the most about intelligence being politicized are the ones politicizing the intelligence,” he added. “Unfortunately, it is Adam Schiff who said the intelligence community believes the Hunter Biden laptop and emails on it are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”

The Hunter Biden emails saga: The New York Post, citing previously unseen emails, last week published a series of reports about Hunter Biden’s business in Ukraine and China and Joe Biden’s alleged involvement.

  • One email, published by the Post on Wednesday, appeared to show that in 2015 then-Vice President Joe Biden was introduced to a top executive at Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings by his son, who was being paid handsomely to sit on the bard.
  • Biden, who spearheaded the Obama administration’s anti-corruption policy in Ukraine, months later pushed out Ukraine’s then-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, whose office had an open criminal investigation against Burisma.
  • As the Democratic presidential nominee, Biden last September said he’s “never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.”

The Biden campaign has continued to deny any wrongdoing by the former vice president in his dealings with Ukraine but has not disputed the veracity of the published emails.

Liberals, such as Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, and many journalists have joined the campaign in questioning the Post’s reporting, and particularly its sourcing

  • Some went as far as to accuse the venerable tabloid of serving as a mouthpiece for Russian state propaganda.

Big tech steps in: Facebook and Twitter suppressed distribution of the Post’s report, earning the ire of conservatives who claimed the social media giants were engaging in censorship and election meddling.

  • “This is a Big Tech information coup,” tweeted Post opinion editor Sohrab Ahmari. “This is digital civil war.”
