President-elect Joe Biden referred to a reporter as a “one-horse pony” during a Tuesday press conference, again raising questions about his mental fitness for office.
The moment: Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Biden if he still thinks reports about his son Hunter Biden’s shady foreign business dealings are “Russian disinformation” and a “smear campaign.”
Biden, laughing, responded: “Yes, yes, yes! God love you, man! You’re a one-horse pony, I’ve got to tell you.”
- “I promise you, my Justice Department will be totally on its own in making judgments about how they should proceed,” he added.
- Biden apparently meant to use the idiom “one-trick pony.”
Footage of the moment went viral on social media, where conservative commentators deemed Biden “foggy” and a “Senile old man.”
The Hunter problem: In the run-up to the 2020 election, Biden repeatedly, and sometimes angrily, dismissed questions about both his mental acuity and his son’s alleged misconduct.
Last week — after it was revealed that federal investigators are looking into Hunter Biden’s business activities in China and elsewhere — Joe Biden continued to downplay the scandal.
- “I am not concerned about any accusations that have been made against him,” Biden said during an interview on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
- It used to get to me. I think it’s kind of foul play but … as long as he’s good, we’re good.”
Biden, 78, will become the oldest-ever president immediately upon taking office on Jan. 20.
