What Happened
The State Department announced late Tuesday that the Biden administration would issue a standing invitation to all U.N. envoys, known as special rapporteurs, who compile information on race and discrimination and report back to the world body.

A group of U.S. lawmakers led by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., released a report Monday about the U.S. Navy’s “fighting culture” which found the surface fleet in shambles as diversity initiatives crowd out operational training.
- “Sometimes I think we care more about whether we have enough diversity officers than if we’ll survive a fight with the Chinese navy,” an anonymous lieutenant told the investigators. “It’s criminal. They think my only value is as a black woman. But you cut our ship open with a missile and we’ll all bleed the same color.”
