Recent data has confirmed Democratic fears that Hispanics are abandoning the party en mass — and offered some strong hints as to why it’s happening.

This is the biggest, fastest growing minority in the United States, and if the demographic is trending Republican in a major way, it’s a true gamechanger.
WHAT THEY THINK
The Wall Street Journal found this week that Hispanic voters are now evenly split between parties.
Biden only beats Trump beats by 1 point, 44 percent to 43 percent, among this demographic in a hypothetical rematch between these two.
54% of Hispanic voters disapprove of the job President Joe Biden is doing, the WSJ poll found.
- Ahead of 2022 election, Hispanics are evenly split on the generic Congressional ballot.
Wither “LatinX?”
Some left-leaning groups are taking note of their political misfortune.
Research has found only about one-in-four Hispanics have even heard of the “pc” term
- And only 3 percent use it, according to Pew.
Further, Hispanic Trump voters feel more strongly about “protecting white European heritage” than even white Trump voters, a separate survey has found.
- Highly dubious accusations of Trump being an exclusive force for white grievance dominated his presidency… even as Trump gained ground with minorities.
HOW THEY’RE VOTING
Ruy Teixeira, the famous author of “The Emerging Democratic Majority” (2002), seemed to be backtracking a little bit on his thesis this week:
- “The Democrats’ Hispanic voter problem,” Teixeira wrote. “It’s not as bad as you think—it’s worse.”
“You can even see the pro-Trump Hispanic shift in New York City,” Teixeira continued.
- “Latino voters evinced little sympathy with the more radical demands that came to be associated with the Black Lives Matter movement,” he wrote.
“[Hispanics] are also patriotic, Teixeira continued. “By well over 3:1, Hispanics… said they would rather be a citizen of the United States than any other country in the world.”
- “The views of Hispanics contrasted starkly with the negative views of progressive activists.”
